Kasabian Kicks It Again

If you have been following us for a while, you might remember how the combination of Kasabian and football produced some phenomenal results before.  They’re at it again, but this time for more mixed results.

The FA and Umbro decided it would be a great idea to launch the latest England away jersey not by showing it off on a footballer, but by having the lead singer of band model it at a concert.  Not only that, but they also thought it was a good idea to launch it not in England, but overseas (as it is an away jersey).  I don’t really understand either ‘innovation’ to their marketing, but the result was Tom Meighan, lead singer of Kasabian, debuting the shirt at a concert in Paris two nights ago.  I can’t imagine Parisian Kasabian fans really cared about the jersey at all, but it’s making a huge buzz in the football community, giving Kasabian plenty of publicity.

I’m trying to think of what artist would look the most ridiculous debuting a new US soccer jersey.  Kanye has to be up there, but just about anyone I can think of makes me laugh.

Here are a couple of Kasabian songs for your enjoyment.  The first is a far-too-unpopular track from their self-titled album.  The second is off their latest album, “Fire,” and is a good example of why I no longer like their music as much.

  1. That is rather odd. Clay Aiken would be pretty funny.

Shoot the runner is off their 2nd album Empire. There latest album is called west Ryder lunatic or something

  2. well…American football T is worn by all rappers and R’n’B”z and is integral part of their wardrobe.

that’s why football form is now to be advertised as part of wardrobe of indie musicians to be the counterweight to the Americans ))))))))

although Oasis and Blur and others wore football form
