Blonde Louis’ “100 Miles”

Anddd  we’re back. First week of a new quarter at school and all of us have been pretty damn busy. Aside from Charlie’s great flashback, we’ve all been AWOL from the blog while trying to get back into the groove of things. Further adding to our problems was some trouble with WordPress and posting capabilities (some of our stuff was labelled as “Contra”-band if you know what I mean).

Now that all of that’s sorted, we’re back and with some new material from across the pond.

Blonde Louis are four baby-faced boys straight from the English indie rock factory line. With members ranging from 16-18, the group has yet to release their first single or even headline their own tour–their first concert series is set to begin next month in venues throughout England. Despite this, the boys seem primed for success.

At first listen Blonde Louis begs comparisons to groups like The Kooks and The Answering Machine with some particularly upbeat guitar licks, snappy bass lines and a lead singer, armed with one particularly heavy accident, who seems to ready to charm any crowd.  “If You See James” is nothing too heavy and should cater exactly to their target crowd of teeny boppers in faux-leather jackets and shredded Converse high tops.

“100 miles,” which is assumed to be the band’s first single, is a song in a similar pop mold. Despite a line that is almost identical to a Red Hot Chili Pepper lyric from “Hump De Bump”– “It must have been 100 miles…”– the song has quite a catchy chorus and should be a sign of things to come from Blonde Louis.
